As you can probably tell, I'm focusing on studying the QB run game this offseason. It's something that we got into more than ever last year, and while our QB is a senior and moving on, it's something that I want to be more prepared for the next time we get a runner at the position.
There's no better way to solve the ever present numbers problem in the run game than the QB run and option football.
That being said, I'm putting together a study on the QB run game, and am currently focusing on these teams from this season:
- Indianapolis Colts
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
- Washington Commanders
- Baltimore Ravens
The study will open with an over-arching argument as to the effectiveness of the QB run game as it relates to creating a numbers advantage for the offense. Then it'll dive into the most popular schemes that these teams. Expect lots of zone read escort, power read, and variations of counter.
It'll be a physical booklet with drawings and QR codes to the clips referenced.
I'll be opening up pre-orders the last week of January, and ship them out the first week of February.
